Starstruck is a romantic comedy, created, written by and starring Edinburgh Comedy Award winning comedian, writer and actor Rose Matafeo (Baby Done) for HBO Max and BBC Three.
Starstruck follows Jessie (Rose Matafeo), a millennial living in East London juggling two dead end jobs and navigating the awkward morning-after-the-night before when she discovers the complications of accidentally sleeping with famous film star Tom (Nikesh Patel; Four Weddings and a Funeral, Hulu; Indian Summers, Channel 4). What she thought would become an amusing anecdote soon turns into something more, as the couple realise they can't keep away from each other. Jessie's world couldn't be further from Tom's, working multiple jobs to afford her overpriced flat she shares with her best friend, Kate (Emma Sidi; Pls Like, BBC Three; King Gary, BBC One). Despite her doubts and his fame, their connection brings them together to try to navigate a possible relationship under less than ordinary circumstances.
Special guest stars Minnie Driver (Modern Love, Amazon; Good Will Hunting) and Russell Tovey (Years and Years, Being Human) feature alongside the wider cast including Al Roberts (Stath Lets Flats, Channel 4), Jon Pointing (Plebs, ITV), Joe Barnes (The Now Show, BBC R4), Nic Sampson (The Luminaries; BBC Three), Lola Rose Maxwell (Down From London, Topic), Abraham Popoola (The Great, Channel 4), and Ambreen Razia (This Way Up, Channel 4).
Starstruck is co-written by Rose Matafeo and Alice Snedden and directed by Karen Maine
Consistently receiving huge critical praise across the globe, Starstruck has been nominated for Best Comedy Programme at the Broadcast Awards 2022, and Best Comedy Series at the Edinburgh TV Awards 2021, while Matafeo has received nominations from BAFTA 2022 for Female Performance in a Comedy Programme, and a National Comedy Award 2021 for Best Breakthrough Artist.

AWARDS & REVIEWS
“Starstruck, is an expertly crafted old-school screwball comedy, crackling with wit and sexual chemistry” The Sunday Times
'Matafeo is endlessly watchable, her timing and delivery pure alchemy… Starstruck is a gem: warm-hearted but never saccharine, a very modern rom-com with fizzy ‘do keep-up’ dialogue'
★★★★★ Evening Standard
“Starstruck was a pure delight, sewing together a fresh sitcom using patchwork pieces of old Hollywood and new romcom. Series two is as much of a treat as the first”
★★★★ The Guardian
“The first series has been streamed almost five million times on BBC iPlayer, making it BBC3’s biggest comedy of last year and announcing the arrival of Matafeo as a star and a kind of millennial Nora Ephron, both here and in America, where it streamed on HBO Max… It’s also very funny… Starstruck is a hymn to love itself”
The Times
“Starstruck is the lighthearted TV rom-com we could all use right now”
NYC Daily Post
