OPENING UP (6 x 30′) is a sharp, funny new romantic comedy for BBC One. It reunites the creative team from the international hit series Starstruck with Avalon, the production company behind Starstruck, Catastrophe, and Breeders.
After a Tinder date goes badly wrong at Madame Tussauds, Penny (Amy Gledhill) meets American Rhys (Drew Tarver). They quickly fall in love, move in together and seem set to live happily ever after. A few years on, their sex life is faltering, so they decide to open up their relationship. What could possibly go wrong?
Warm and incredibly relatable, Opening Up explores the highs and lows of modern relationships through the comic voices of Edinburgh Comedy Award winner Amy Gledhill and RTS Award-nominated Starstruck writer Nic Sampson. The series is directed by Starstruck co-creator/director Alice Snedden.
Premiering on BBC Q1 2027.
