This two-part true crime documentary unravels the extraordinary twenty-year investigation that finally brought Andrew Griggs to justice for the murder of his wife, Debbie. It began in May 1999, when 34-year-old Debbie Griggs, four months pregnant and mother to three young boys, vanished without a trace from the coastal town of Deal, Kent.
Her husband, Andrew Griggs, claimed she was depressed and prone to disappearing, but as detectives dug deeper, a far darker picture began to emerge. For two decades, the case remained unsolved, with no body and no confession, until in 2019 Andrew was convicted of Debbie's murder on compelling circumstantial evidence alone, including diary entries exposing a controlling and troubled marriage. Then, in a twist nobody saw coming, Debbie's remains were finally uncovered in 2022, buried in an airtight barrel beneath a shed at Andrew's Dorset home, after his own son came forward to reveal that his father had asked him to dig up the body and take a hair sample, in a chilling attempt to fake proof that Debbie was still alive.
With exclusive access to Kent Police, previously unseen evidence, extensive archive material, and interviews with those closest to the case, this documentary tells the story of one of Britain's most extraordinary cold-case murder investigations, and the decades-long fight to uncover the truth.
